A routine for gathering water samples at specified stations throughout the marine waters of NJ is performed. These results are then analyzed and studied for potential fecal coliform contamination. The scores that each sample receives is entered into a statistical program that determines the quality of a station over a period of time. All stations are looked at within a general area and classified into approved, prohibited, special restricted, or seasonal depending on their results.
