Zone A Process: Selected current canal centerline and banks from 2002 hydrography [ABRV] update including section in south eastern Mercer County. Merged separate parts into one canal polygon and centerline. Confirmed banks and centerline using 2002 aerial photos. Created extended centerline segments by connecting separated centerline segments along feeder canal and main canal. Gap under Trenton Freeway (US Rt. 1) remains and southern Mercer section not connected to the rest of the canal centerline segments. One thousand (1,000) foot buffer created for all segments using centerline. This buffer was then edited in ArcMap to reflect zone boundary exceptions/limits: far shore of Carnegie Lake, far shore of Raritan River, near shore of Delaware River, northern end at Landing Lane and Bridge in New Brunswick, NJ.
Combined Zones Process: Joined Zone coverages/shapefiles to create single review zone shapefile. Eliminated interior zone B arcs from zone A polygon. Edited/deleted slivers along where zones overlapped and edges should coincide. Created area, perimeter, zone and acres attributes and eliminated all extraneous attributes. Calculated area, perimeter, and acres attribute values.
Zone B Process: Selected WMAs through which the canal passes. Selected HUC14s falling within these WMAs. Eliminated HUC14s or parts which were deemed not to be part of zone B by overlay with and visual comparison to current, hand-drawn zone B delineations. Edited remaining HUC14s in following exception areas: HUC14 basins or parts north of Raritan River and, Trenton, Hamilton Twp. east of zone A not included in zone B. Interior HUC14 boundaries dissolved to created one zone B area.
