Process Description:
The information is obtained from data submissions produced by the various remedial programs within NJDEP using information supplied by the entity responsible for remediation of the site. Geographic information as to the location of sites and extent of the chromate sites were supplied by responsible entities in the form of maps showing location of the site or more specific maps identifying the delineated extent of the chromium contamination. The spatial extent of the chromate site is digitized through comparison of the responsible entity maps with NJ Parcels, Roads NJ (Centerlines) and 2015 digital ortho-photoquads with input from the NJDEP chrome team and the three main Responsible Entities and their associated environmental consulting firms. The confidence as to the accuracy tends to be high but is limited to the quality of the maps provided by the responsible parties. The source of the digital ortho-photoquads is 1:12,000 National Air Photography Program (NAPP) color infrared photography.
