Process Description:
CSO Point discharge locations existed as CSO Point latitude and longitude data and physical maps provided to the Department in Request for Authorizations (RFA) under the General Permit for Combined Sewer Systems and other Individual NJPDES Permit applications. In an effort to consolidate the information into a consistent format easily accessible over the internet, the Division of Water Quality converted the information into a digital GIS layer. The GIS layer was then revised based upon staff knowledge, and a review of the Department's files including Treatment Works Approval Permits, engineered planning documents, submitted to the Department, and the review of current GIS Aerial photography for the purposes of refining the location of discharge points. The maps developed with the revised GIS layer were then sent to CSO Permittees who own and/or operate the CSO Points for verification and comment. More recent data was obtained from the permittees in January 2016 and incorporated into the GIS layer.
